This is a real scenario that happened when Charlie Miller and Chris Valasek famously hacked a Jeep Cherokee in 2015 to demonstrate the major lack of security in modern vehicles.
While car hacking isn’t common, it’s still a possibility — especially with the increase of connectivity features in modern vehicles. As cars shift to become more computerized and electric, the points of entry for hackers increase. A car can contain 100 or more electronic control units (ECUs), all of which give potential hackers an entry point into the controls of a vehicle.
